At the invitation of the CEO, Dr. Urmas Siigur, the British ambassador to Estonia, Mr. Chris Holtby, paid a farewell visit to the new building of Tartu University Hospital on Puusepa Street.

The organisers of the visit included, among others, the laureates of Audiere's audiology scholarship: Maret Lepplaan, Paul Gardner and Maris Kruusmaa. The remarkable contribution by Ambassador Holtby to the development of Estonian audiology and his support for the scholarship scheme is taking Sandra Vill, a student of Special Education at the University of Tartu, to the University of Southampton this autumn to study audiology.

Congratulations to Her Majesty, and many thanks to Chris Holtby for inviting us! What a wonderful celebration it was!

One of the keys to the success of Audiere's Audiology Scholarship programme has been, from the very start, Ambassador Chris Holtby's dedicated and strong support for it. To think that there are now, because of his help, several young audiologists in Estonia who offer modern treatment for hearing impaired and little patients with cochlear implants, is certainly gratifying. Furthermore, his understanding that Estonian audiology needs to develop international co-operation in scientific research has helped young academics to collaborate with their peers abroad.

Thank you, Chris! You'll stay in Estonia through these people for a long, long time!

In January, Audiere's long-standing partner KalevSpa celebrated its glorious 10th anniversary at Kultuurikatel. Gifts to the generous KalevSpa team were donated to Audiere's bank accounts, as requested, raising a total of 2885 euros in support of our activities.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the entire KalevSpa team. We wish them happiness and every success!

On December 6 the Supervisory Board of the Aadu Luukas Foundation nominated the non-profit organisation Audiere to be one of the six nominees of the Missionary Prize of the Aadu Luukas Foundation in 2012.

This highly valued recognition is accompanied by a monetary award – 6,400 euros – that we have decided to allocate to the Audiology Scholarship Fund. Pursuant to the statutes of the Missionary Prize the award is given to a person or organisation that stands out as a promoter of the balanced development of Estonian society and our nation’s quality of life. By educating young agile audiologists we can fulfil this aim in a manner worthy of the award.

We are grateful to the honourable Supervisory Board for their trust and recognition, and we would like to thank all those who nominated us and all our partners and everyone who takes an active interest in our activities for their continuous support.
